Q. CBA CE credits for all events at a FABA conference are handled exactly the same way, right?
A. NO! Pre-Conference Workshop and general session continuing education credits are handled separately.
Q. Why are those darned session hosts such sticklers about people who come late/leave early?
A. All guidelines pertaining to Behavior Analyst continuing education state that for every 50 minutes a certified person spends in an approved event, he/she may receive 1 CE credit. 50 minutes = 1 credit. The session hosts are doing exactly what's been requested of them when they refuse to give punches to latecomers/early leavers. Even if you're five minutes late, asking one of these folks to give you a CE coupon is asking them to break established guidelines. Please do not put our kind volunteers in such a predicament! If you disagree with the guidelines, please contact your certifying organization and discuss it with them.
Q. Why should I keep the carbon copy of my punch card?
A. The CBA CE instructions tell you to keep one copy of your 2-part punch card. This copy will very important if ever your CE materials are lost. Even if all traces of your credits earned are gone, if you still have that copy you will still be able to receive proof of your credits.
Q. I never turned in my materials! May I still do so?
A. Yes! Send in the completed CE instructions/cover sheet, your punch card (or coupons) and payment ($12/credit) the same as if you'd turned it in at the conference (all items loose in the envelope - no staples please!). If you've lost the cover sheet, a full size sheet of paper with your name, address, phone number and email will do just as well.
Q. How long can I wait before turning in my coupons?
A. At present, there is no deadline for turning in CE information. You may wait as long as you like before turning your coupons in. However, CE materials turned in at the conference or immediately following are processed much more quickly than the ones that are received throughout the year. Turning in credits from more than one conference together is likely to slow down the processing time, not speed it up.
Waiting until shortly before a certification renewal deadline is strongly discouraged!
Keep in mind that holding on to your materials will not allow you to obtain a more recently dated CE letter. Each letter is dated about one month after the conference occurred and this will be the date on your letter for credits obtained at that conference, regardless of when you send them to us.
Q. Help! I turned in my coupons but lost my letter!
A. In most cases, we can produce another letter for you. Contact FABA and provide your name and conference date. As long as we have your records on file, we should be able to create another letter.
Q. Help! I lost my punch card (coupons)!
A. This is your only record of your attendance at general conference sessions. (Once you send your punch card to us, your copy is a back-up record in case something is lost in the mail.) If you lose your card before submitting it with payment to FABA, there is no way to prove your attendance at those sessions.
Q. I have a question about CBA CE credits from an event that was not at a FABA conference.
A. You must contact the organization that sponsored the event. If FABA did not sponsor and run the event, we cannot answer your question or do anything for you regarding these CE credits.
